According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the demand for massage therapists nationwide is projected to grow by approximately 22% from 2018 to 2028. Currently, the average annual salary for licensed massage therapists (excluding tips) is about $42,000. With tips, the average annual income can range from $55,000 to $100,000. Massage therapists fall under the healthcare and wellness industry. To become a licensed massage therapist, candidates must complete professional training and pass theoretical examinations—the most important of which is the Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx).
MBLEx—short for Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination—is administered by the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB). The exam results are widely recognized by state licensing agencies across the United States and are a key requirement for obtaining a massage therapy license.
So, what exactly does the MBLEx cover? The content is divided into seven main sections:

Exam Format:
The MBLEx is a computer-based, English-language exam consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions. The test duration is 120 minutes, and each question has only one correct answer. Results are provided immediately after the exam, showing either Pass or Not Pass.
