As Massage Therapy continues to grow in popularity, there are demand now for qualified massage therapists. This makes it an exciting time for you to build a bright future in this rewarding, healing profession! Our massage program curriculum consists of 38 credits, 600 hours designed to give you the education & training you need to be qualified for Maryland and national massage certificate exam.

Massage Training Program Courses

Session I – 67 Hours

FM101 Foundation of Massage (3 Hours)

Foundations of Massage, the student will learn about the history and evolution of massage, preventing disease transmission, laws and regulations, and ethics of massage. Students will also learn the benefits and effects of massage, massage cautions and contraindications, and the therapeutic relationship.

FM103 Ethics and Business Practices (4 Hours)

In this course students learn of the ethical issues associated with massage therapy, such as client confidentiality, boundaries, scope of practice and appropriate behavior as well as ethical business practices.

FM102 Eastern Therapeutic Concepts (15 Hours)

FM104 Infection Control, Safety, Health, and Hygiene (4 Hours)

Your career as a massage therapist depends not only on you r education and skills training but also on your ability to use wisely the tools of the trade. As with any other skil led arti­ san, the massage therapist will use tools to express or imple­ ment massage.

BM201 Orientation of the Human Body(10 Hours)

Anatomy & Physiology I, students will learn several body systems, to include: Lymphatic; Immune; Digestive; Respiratory; Endocrine; Reproductive; and Urinary Systems. Students will also learn the muscles of the head, neck, jaw, spine, and thorax. In addition, students will learn about the nervous system.

BM202 Anatomy and Physiology I (31 Hours)

In this course students learn of the ethical issues associated with massage therapy, such as client confidentiality, boundaries, scope of practice and appropriate behavior as well as ethical business practices.

BM203 Anatomy and Physiology II (37 Hours)

Students will learn about the Cardiovascular and Urinary System, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and take a Mid-term Evaluation. In addition, the students will learn about the muscles of the elbow, forearm, wrist, hand, shoulder, and arm. Finally, the student will be introduced to client assessment and session planning to achieve massage session goals.
